Protect your trailers against cargo theft

Sat, 2009-07-18

On behalf of Shaw Tracking, I would like to wish you, your families and colleagues enjoy a safe and happy summer.

By now, most of you have seen or heard recent articles about cargo thief and the need for tracking trailers.  This month’s article is about cargo thieves going after unlikely items, anything from chewing gum to coffee to diapers.

With that in mind - we are pleased to announce the newest improvements to the TrailerTRACS Portal.   This release (3.0) was recently deployed. The next release (3.xx) is expected in early fall ’07 and will round out the planned feature set for our new portal.

Some of the new Major User Experience Enhancements have made T2 TrailerTRACS Easier and More Powerful to Use

  • Emergency Tracking - the ability to respond quickly to a stolen or missing load/trailer by offering an easy way to temporarily change the trailer's status reporting interval (to as often as every 5 minutes)
    •  This feature has a default shut off of 6 hours of non-movement to protect against leaving it on unintentionally. This change required that we reduce a standing limit in place for customers that only allowed a trailer to be set to message more often than 1 hour.  This was reduced to 5 minutes for T2 Portal customers only and only on T2 messaging.
    • Emergency tracking Icon shows on the trailer list and count of trailers being emergency tracked on the dashboard bring visibility.
    • Emergency tracking alerts can be sent to multiple email addresses.
  • Trailer Pool Sizes -- In the "Trailer Inventory Panel" we've introduced the ability for customers to designate pool sizes at their landmarks plus we calculate the overage/shortage based on the number of trailers at the landmark.  This has several customer benefits, helping them know if trailers can be moved to another location, can be picked up by a driver to use on another load, or that the pool needs replenishing.  This panel also makes dormancy by landmark, load status and connect status visible.

At Shaw Tracking, we are committed to ensure that all our existing and future products and services support our customers’ requirements.  We have worked with our suppliers and our engineers, making the required investment to ensure we are able to provide the most up to date features and functionality on our trailer tracking products.
